Sub Pens
From the Call of Duty Wiki
- "In Sub Pens wipe the monsoon rain from your eyes as you struggle over a bombed-out submarine base."
- — Level description
Sub Pens is a new map that was released in the second map pack for Call of Duty: World at War Released on June 11, 2009.
There are two Japanese float planes that are found in the center of the base.
[edit] Multiplayer Tactics
At the start of the match, it is a good idea to either rush through the Submarine to the other side with an SMG, throw some grenades into the other side, or avoid them altogether, and take a flanking route.
On this map it is generally advised to use an SMG, shotgun, or Machine gun, preferably the MG42. Because the map mostly takes place in close quarters, these guns will excel in this map. Flamethrowers are a great choice for this map (If you have unlocked it) use them when your in close quarters combat.
If one stays in the buildings, they can achieve many kills. However, this process is known as camping, and this tactic is looked down upon by many players.
Do not use a Bolt Action Rifle, as everything is close Quarters on this map, it will be difficult to snipe without leaning outside the Vent or Window, where everyone can see you.
[edit] Trivia
- The boats off of the coast of this map are identical to the ones in Cliffside, right down to their identification number, 78. This is because only one model has been made for each type of boat, and in both maps, most boats have a 78 on them, because you're not supposed to notice to see the identification number.
- In the room that has the table and the map of America you can hear a yell when on the stairs.
- On two of the allied ships there is a floating white light connected to nothing.
- There are several PT boats around the docks on the map.
- This is the only Imperial map to not be advised to use a Bolt Action Rifle or Sniper on.
- The submarine in the map appears to be a Sen Toku I-400 class submarine, a Japanese submarine aircraft carrier and the largest submarine of WWII. The small floatplanes in the submarine's hangar and the sub pen are Aichi M6A's, which were designed specifically for the I-400.
- If you go out of the map in flying mode you can find a dog house with the words DAN on it.
- In Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, there is a map called Sub Base with a remarkably similar concept.
