Tabun Gas Grenade

From the Call of Duty Wiki

A Tabun Gas Grenade is Call of Duty: World at War's equivalent of the Stun Grenade from Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare. This grenade, after being thrown, releases Tabun Gas after approximately one second. The gas will distort the player's vision and hinder their ability to maneuver, thus making them vulnerable to attack.

[edit] In Game

To make Tabun Gas useful, one should use it strategically. For example, when throwing Tabun Gas, it has a very low effect radius and should be thrown directly at the enemy. Also, trying to block an enemy's escape path with this grenade can be useful, only if you are not in full view, as the gas is

very transparent.

If you combine this with the Special Grenades x3 perk, and Gas Mask, it can be used very efficiently in objective-based game modes such as War or Domination. You could throw a gas grenade at an objective in the process of getting captured and eliminate the enemy with little fear of getting killed or gassing yourself. In Dome, two or more players in a team with the 3-grenade/Gas mask class can dampen the enemy's attempts to win. Try to use these perks with high powered weapons such as the MG-42, M1919, and SMGs.

When the enemies heavily fortify themselves in a small area (such as the small balcony in Dome) Tabun Gas is extremely effective to breach such areas. Toss 2-3 up and move up with Gas Mask on then pick off the people struggling for cover. Tabun Gas is also involved in challenges in Call of Duty World at War. Some of these challenges are the Think Fast Special, Slow But Sure, and Gas Mask. The Think Fast Special is where you finish off an enemy by direct impact usually when an enemy is in last stand. Slow But Sure is a challenge where when you are effected by the gas and you kill an opponent whether you gassed yourself or whether the enemy threw it. The last challenge, Gas Mask is when you have this perk equipped and an enemy tabun gas is thrown at you and you kill the enemy who threw the Tabun gas at you.

[edit] Tabun Gas

  • In reality, tabun gas is toxic and odourless, so it is often used as a weapon of terrorism. The gas is hard to trace, and also penetrates thin, solid surfaces much faster than most other gases, so it is a lethal, fumatic gas to inhale.
  • The Tabun gas on the Wii just turns the screen green instead of distorting the user's vision. However, the lack of maneuverability and constant coughing are still present.
  • After throwing this grenade like any other gas or smoke grenade, as soon as it dispersses it will make a bark noise.
  • The color of Tabun gas differs depending on which team you are on.
