The Talon-MG variant is one of the most common robotic enemies in the campaign, appearing in swarms from three to five at the most. Considering that most hostile Talons are autonomous, they can easily be controlled through either Enhanced Protocol Override or Enhanced Remote Hijack.

The Talon appears in multiplayer as an AI-controlled drone armed with machine guns that escorts the player, similarly to Call of Duty: Ghosts's Vulture.

When first deployed, the Talon will follow the player who deployed it, engaging targets that enter its line of sight. If the player is killed and the Talon survives, then the Talon will kill the attacker and return to the player via the most direct route. If the player cannot respawn due to game type restrictions, the Talon will wander aimlessly until its timer runs out or it is destroyed. A friendly Talon will have a tan and blue colour scheme, and an enemy Talon will have a black and red colour scheme.

The Talon is very loud, and can give away the position of the player it is following if used in its default follow mode, especially if an enemy has Engineer, which not only allows the enemy player to see the Talon through walls and will also show the position of the Talon on the map.

The player can also remotely control the Talon, which is arguably the most effective way to use it. When taking manual control, it is important to note that the Talon cannot aim upwards, meaning it has to be above its target in order to engage it. The Talon is not very durable, and will be destroyed quickly by fire from most weapons, or two rockets.
