The VTOL (Vertical Take Off and Landing) is an aircraft that appears in Call of Duty: Black Ops II. The aircraft is used a lot throughout the game. Its main purpose is to serve as a transportation aircraft. The VTOL is an updated V-22 Osprey with three jet engines added to the aircraft. Thus allows the VTOL to be a carrier-based aircraft too. The VTOL is used by the US Navy and United States Air Force, the SDC, and the Yemeni Army, among others. It also appears in Multiplayer, being called VTOL Warship. That variant has only two jet engines and has a lot more firepower.
There are three main types of VTOL:
- The transport/presidential VTOL
- VTOL with a minigun on the side
- VTOL Warship.

- In-game, it is only named VTOL, but, as seen multiple times through campaign, it can also be a CTOL aircraft (Conventional Take Off and Landing).
- The VTOL seems to be a future variant of the V-22 osprey, but with jets insted of turboprops.
