History
Edit
The country was a pro-Western[1] country ruled by Yasir al-Fulani. It was a monarchy before a revolution and afterwards became a republic. It was filled with corruption, and by 2011, Khaled Al-Asad led a coup, trying to stop Al-Fulani's collusion with the West. It succeeded and Al-Fulani was executed in the Capital City. However, the United States of America sent forces including the USMC and Navy Seals to stop him. By Day 2, most of the nation was conquered by U.S. forces. After having successfully lured U.S. forces to the capital, Al-Asad had Vladimir Makarov activate a nuclear bomb on Day 3, killing 30,000 United States Marines. The events in the unnamed country after the nuclear detonation is unknown.
Economy
Edit
According to the News Reporter, the nation is small, but oil rich. This is supported by several oil rigs off shore in the coastal town in "Charlie Don't Surf", and several other rigs on the outskirts of the Capital City in "Shock and Awe."
Geography
Edit
The maps in cutscenes between missions indicates that the country stretches from the coast of the Red Sea to Southern Iraq. According to the News Caster in "Charlie Don't Surf," it borders the Persian Gulf.
Religion
Edit
Like most nations in the Middle East, Islam is the predominant religion. This is supported by six mosques being seen in the Capital City, two of which are only 41 meters apart and can be seen from each other.
Language
Edit
Arabic is the official language like most nations in the area. However, in the Capital City, many signs are in both Arabic and English, also like many real-life Middle Eastern countries.
Transportation
Edit
The coastal town is shown to have a harbor. Also, in the Capital City and the city just outside, Lt. Vasquez mentions a "Highway 4" that runs through the country. In the City outside several Buses can be seen outside close to each other, suggesting the prescense of some form of public transit system.
Trivia
Edit
- In several scrapped missions the loading screens refers to it as Saudi Arabia.
- The flag for this country is using a modified version of the Palestinian Flag.
- Locations shown during cutscenes are geographically similar to Mecca and Riyadh, two prominent cities in Saudi Arabia.
