[edit] Re: Ban
Ok, IP banned. Thank you for the heads-up. I will not be looking around for vandalism as much during the holidays, but I will check around often enough, and be back much more after they are over. Thank you for reverting the vandalism; it is really helpful when non-admins pitch in with that sort of thing. Merry Christmas! Creepydude Sniper Say Some'at Here!
[edit] Re:December "User of the Month"
Well, usually we get more of a community vote on the matter. I think that if we do not get any responses from the community, I will just decide. The user might not even be Azncutthroat. Not sure yet. There have been a lot of new users lately, and some of them have been pretty good. I probably will end up with Azn, but I prefer to get more community voting... I guess most people are sort of taking vacation. Creepydude Sniper Say Some'at Here!
- Done. Also, if you have any idea of what the Featured Media should be for this month, let me know please. Thanks, Creepydude Sniper Say Some'at Here!
[edit] Re:Call of Duty Wiki:Articles for Deletion - Call of Duty Wiki:Ranks
I am not sure what you are asking me to do here. By the way, the bar you are talking about is MediaWiki:Sitenotice. Creepydude Sniper Say Some'at Here!
- Hmm, ok, I understand what you are asking. I guess this would be a good idea, but it was stressed by Chiafriend12 and Rs4life07 that we should not advertise this "ranks" idea, because it can destroy a community. I am not sure if we want to go any further with the way things are for the ranks idea. I will probably close the AFD request because it has been over 2 weeks and is unsuccessful (wiki policy), so I do not think this is needed. However, I think we should tread carefully when it comes to the ranks. Keep it small, the way it is. As enticing the concept of manipulatable ranks is, I think is should remain more of a counter than a status.
By the way, I put the message about the December "User of the Month" on the Sitenotice, so I know how to do that. Creepydude Sniper Say Some'at Here!
- No, go ahead and keep your link. We won't kill the idea, but like I said, on our user pages, we could put some Template:User Infoboxs that have our edit count or rank. I also like the idea of putting the rank image and such in your sig. Basically, if the user cares about the wiki enough to find out about things like the rank, when it isn't advertised on the main page, then I think they are mature enough not to try and kill the site.
If you have any other ideas, let me know. Cheers, Creepydude Sniper Say Some'at Here!
[edit] Re:Page Deletions
No deletion needed. The Battle of Matmata was just pointing to Battle of Matmata (Disambiguaion) (incorrect spelling), so I put it to Battle of Matmata (Disambiguation), the proper one. The second link was already deleted, by me I believe. Thanks for the heads-up anyway. Creepydude Sniper Say Some'at Here!
[edit] Re:Profanity Policy
You know, I was just about to ask the same question myself to Chiafriend12. I have been putting astrisks (not because I can't handle the language ^^) because I think it is a better wiki policy, and seems better to maximize content quality. However, Chiafriend12 and Rs4life07 have been replacing them with the real words. For instance, if you go on an encyclopedia and look up something, you usually don't find swears, even if it could easily be included. I dunno, it looks better. But as to a policy, we don't have one thus far; it is pretty much just "ask-a-user". Why not create a forum post and I will put an announcement at the top bar.
By the way, I suggest you check out the Call of Duty Wiki:War Room right now; there is lots of action. ;) Creepydude Sniper Say Some'at Here!
Hi. I read your question on Creepy's talk. We do not censor swear words in quotes or on talk pages. If they are in the article, they should be deleted because there is no reason for them to be there unless they are in a quote, which is again, not censored. Hope this helped. --Bigm279306:13, 8 January 2009 (UTC)
[edit] Re:Deletion
Done. I checked and deleted it. It looks like the author (Mattman2008x) tried to delete it by just blanking it. Creepydude Sniper Say Some'at Here!
[edit] Re:New Users Voting
Well, as with pretty much everything else on this wiki, there isn't an official policy on this. The war room is actually just like the forum, but for things that have to do specifically with the wiki. I think that it really depends on the user. I saw the new user that you commented on at the war room, and I think that ultimately, it won't come down to a "5-6 somethingrather wins" scenario. We will get the community opinion, and will decide whos vote carries more or less weight. I think that that new user in particular, who signed up, saw the top bar, and posted on the war room should have little-to-no weight. This ties in with the "policy" discussion I had down the page. We need to have rules written in stone.
However, at base value, ranking is not as important as an RFA, but we still need the opinion of everyone, old and new users. Then we just make a decision. Creepydude Sniper Say Some'at Here!
- The War Room is not just like the forums. The War Room is for community discussion for things about the wiki conducted by community members. The forums are for anyone to chat in. The War Room is not for chatting. They're quite different.
Sgt. ChiafriendRifleman 06:19, 11 January 2009 (UTC)
- Ok, my mistake. I thought it was basically like the forums, but for stuff relevent to the wiki itself, not just talking about stuff. We should put that on the page, because it is misleading Creepydude Sniper Say Some'at Here!
[edit] Re:General
Thanks! You're sure getting up there as well. What's more exciting is the fact that we hit 1000 articles! That is a huge milestone, and our user count has increased quite a bit too! I don't care what Joeyaa thinks, this wiki is expanding nicely, even though it took a while.

[edit] Re:I can't think of a title
Oh, yah that's right; I nominated you. xD Sorry I forgot. Anyways, I've been quite impressed with your edits, and it doesn't matter if this isn't your main wiki. I'm currently splitting myself between Team Fortress Wiki, Left 4 Dead Wiki, this one, and I'm helping the brand-new Game Boy Wiki (needs LOTS of work). This wiki will of course be my main one, but I'm trying to split myself nicely. Anyway, I think it is much-deserved title. Just keep up the editing lots at least 'till the end of the month so other users notice you and give support. ;)

- Oh, by the way, contgrats on your wiki adoption! That is really cool, and I'm sure you'll do well as the head hancho. Can't say I know anything about the Pittsburgh Steelers (not really into football xD), but that's pretty awesome.

- Oh yah thanks; I forgot.

[edit] Re: Minor Ban
Thanks for the heads-up. Man, there have been a lot of IPs as of late; it's hard to track them all. Anyway, I looked at his contributions, and turns out he's vandalised 3 other pages, so I gave him a week. Usually after being banned once, even if for a short time, vandals don't come back.

[edit] Welcoming users
Hey, I just thought I'd let you know that usually when welcoming a user, you type {{subst:welc|YourUsername|~~~~}}, or for you: {{subst:welc|I Ross I|~~~~}}. If you do {{Welcome|I Ross I|~~~~}} then there is a template sitting in the user page. The "subst" part makes it so it copies the whole template on the page, instead of only leaving the template. It's also a good idea because it looks less "fake" for the welcomed person.
BG. Creepydude Sniper Say Some'at Here! 03:15, 27 January 2009 (UTC)
- Sorry, I only just realised it. :| Oh well, it's not really that big of a deal.
BG. Creepydude Sniper Say Some'at Here! 04:06, 27 January 2009 (UTC)
- Thanks for welcoming me =] and im not complaining but i just want to say that templates are so impersonal lol. - BR Ninja15
[edit] Re:Another block
- Hmm, usually if it is past vandalism, and he didn't get banned at the time, you don't block the guy. He hasn't been on since the 6th, so unless he comes and vandalises again, then we'll ban him. For now, there is really no point; for all we know it is someone on a shared computer or something...

[edit] Re: Rollback
This is a great idea! As a matter of fact, I was thinking the same thing. Obviously it is only a bureaucrat who can give this to you, and I am only a Sysop. Usually Rollback is just by request or just by nomination to my knowledge. I will nominate you on Chiafriend12's talk page and you can accept the nomination. I don't really think full community vote is required. Good luck! ;) Creepydude Sniper Say Some'at Here! 01:35, 31 January 2009 (UTC)
[edit] User of the Month
Congratulations! As of last night, you are the new User of the Month! :D Thanks for all your help on this wiki. Creepydude Sniper Say Some'at Here! 18:00, 1 February 2009 (UTC)
[edit] Re: One time offender
Yah, I gave him a strict warning. Usually if the offender is caught on the day of the performed vandalism, then a block is issued promptly. Hoewever, if it has been a day or more after vandalism, I usually do not block, but will if more vandalism is seen. Thanks for your help. Oh, and you did get rollback right? Creepydude Sniper Say Some'at Here! 18:40, 3 February 2009 (UTC)
- Thanks a lot for the patrolling. Oh well, on the plus side, more vandalism usually means more users and IPs; and in this case it does. There have been lots of good IP edits in the past while. Oh, and I blocked the IP for 2 weeks, that should give him time to cool his heels. ;) Creepydude Sniper Say Some'at Here! 23:03, 3 February 2009 (UTC)
- No problem; thank you for finding the vandalism. I can easily see you becoming an admin here someday if you wanted to. ;) Cheers! Creepydude Sniper Say Some'at Here! 00:15, 4 February 2009 (UTC)
- Thanks for letting me know; I blocked him. Oh, and by the way, if you are posting on a talk page, and are posting behind other content, I usually prefer for you to bold the text, so I see that it is a new message. In this case, I had 2 messages, so I only saw the last one, until I went into the recent history and noticed your name on my talk page. You can also colour the text differently and stuff, that works too. Either that or post at the end of the page with a new title and everything. ;) Thanks for helping to patrol!
