With Apocalypse out it shows me that summer is too. Every 2 years I get the satisfaction of the final new maps from Treyarchs chest of awesomeness. Now we are going over the newest DLC, Apocalypse. With new maps of Dig, Frost, Pod and Takeoff, with a brand new steampunk edition of Zombies, Origins.
The map based off of the World at War map Courtyard. This map is in my opinion your typical Black Ops 2 map, SMG oriented. I despise every map like this because we already have at least 12 of them. There is little room to breath with a assault rifle and sniping is like expecting a 2 day old baby to say telekinesis. Now, what stops me from putting anything lower than a 5 on Dig is how tactical this map is. You have to check your corners, stay strategic, and the close quarters can give you a rush of adrenaline. It is a okay map, but I wish it was Revolution.
A nicely done all around map that for some reason nobody wants to fucking play. I wasn't able to get on the map until around 12 in the afternoon. The buildings are excellent for a shotgun, the roofs and second floors are sniper haven, and the road and ice are free reign with a AR or a SMG. Very well done map.
Pod was rather unusual, having having CQC areas mixed with mid-range areas, zero good sniping positions to stay at for more than 30 seconds, and its color is pale. I liked the map for its appetite of Automatic Assault Rifles. The map had a jist of complexity but at the same time a mirage to Drone.
Takeoff, god I love takeoff. They brought back the most balanced map I have played since World at War. The beautifully styled space port had sniping positions, marksman positions, CQC, and even mid-range combat. This was a perfectly balanced map, and playing it on objective-based gamemodes are a hell of a lot of fun.
How should I begin this? This map is just, wow. It is so incredible. I guess I should rock it down individually.
- MG08/15 is a astounding gun
- Generators are a genius idea.
- Plot line is better than I have ever predicted, the best since Der Rise.
- STG-44 is something I am willing to have sex with if the barrel was wide enough.
- It is INCREDIBLY HARD. I love that in a zombies map, it is supposed to be a challenge.
- Giant robots make maneuvering difficult.
- You are always moving, you can never find a place to stay.
- EVER. PERK. IS. IN. THE. GAME
- MP40 is great until you upgrade it.
- Panzer guy whatever is very very difficult to beat.
- Mystery Box locations are death wishes
- MP40 upgraded is a disappointment.
Yeah I think that covers it.
Rating: 8.5/10, Not the best map in zombies but surely the second best in Bo2 next to Mob of the Dead.
This DLC was not as good as Vengeance but improved in map making and strategy, I am very happy Treyarch did this at their best. Possibly the second best map pack released since Ascension.
Rating: 9.5/10. Very impressed and so far from other reviewers Origins has became critically acclaimed. Hope you enjoyed the review and put your comments below! --19:31, August 27, 2013 (UTC)
