Steve Jobs died Wednesday, October 5th, 2011 after a long struggle with pancreatic cancer. The former CEO of Apple, Jobs pioneered the concept of the personal computer and of navigating them by clicking onscreen images with the mouse. More recently he introduced the popular iPod brand of portable music players, the first smartphone the iPhone and the iPad tablet, all of which changed how we consume content in the digital age. Jobs is survived by his wife and four children.
Apple recently released a statement reading "We are deeply saddened to announce that Steve Jobs passed away today. Steve's brilliance, passion and energy were the source of countless innovations that enrich and improve all of our lives. The world is immeasurably better because of Steve. His greatest love was for his wife, Laurene, and his family. Our hearts go out to them and to all who were touched by his extraordinary gifts."
