Part 3 of Behind The Design is up on GameTrailers!
Last night (October 24), GameTrailers uploaded part three of four of their Bonus Round special Behind The Design. The video has GameTrailers' Geoff Keighly interviewing Treyarch's Director Dave Anthony, Community Manager Josh Olin, and Game Design Director David Vonderhaar.
Here's some information covered in the video:
- Treyarch's change from the World War II setting to the Cold War setting was done because few games have covered the Cold War.
- The multiplayer maps take place in different time periods, but the weapons are unaffected.
- The absence of tanks and similar vehicles was due to Treyarch's decision to "enhance the infantry experience."
- There won't be zombies at all in the single player campaign.

Treyarch confident about weapon balance
Treyarch's David Vonderhaar is confident that the weapons will be balanced in Black Ops, saying "This time we have better data," in response to a fan's question about the Spectre M4. For those that don't know, the Spectre M4 is a submachine gun with a low rate of fire, low recoil, and high power. It is similar to the MP40 and the UMP45, both of which were complained about for being "overpowered". Treyarch will also update weapons after the release of Call of Duty: Black Ops if they are not balanced.

Noob tubing
Just my thoughts on Grenade Launchers in CoD.
One of the reasons that some think ruin the game. Grenade launchers are easy to use, but hard to master. Regardless of whether you use GL's excessively or not, you're still going to be called a noob tuber. Apparently only "noobs" use GL's; all other players avoid it thanks to crying from other players. Apparently, people do it all the time.
In CoD4 and WaW, equipping a GL sacrifices the Tier 1 Perk, and since many players refuse to give up said Perk, noob tubing is somewhat rare. Nevertheless, some dedicated servers ban GL's, and the ones that don't will have players whining after the rare GL kill.
In MW2, noob tubing is much more common, since equipping one no longer takes up the Tier 1 Perk.…
