|Perks||Perks return in Call of Duty: Ghosts, dividing into seven categories. These are Speed, Handling, Stealth, Awareness, Resistance, Equipment, and Elite. A player starts with 8 'points' to distribute between 35 perks. Perks are weighted between 1 and 5 points. Primary weapons, secondary weapons, and lethal and tactical equipment all count as one 'point', and removing them all would result in 12 'points' becoming available. Perks can be unlocked through a certain level or squad points. Any perk can be unlocked any time through squad points.||Black Ops 2 multiplayer perks give you a variety of different enhancements, thus enabling you to customize your classes even further. Unlike in previous Call of Duty games, you can choose a total of 6 perks, but this limits the amount of customization you can do for your class. You can also opt-out and choose no perks from the Black Ops 2 perks list, and instead focus more on equipment and weapon attachments.|

|Special Mode||Extinction: Extinction mode is a new game mode featured in the Call of Duty: Ghosts; its existence first proven through achievements. It is similar to Treyarch's Zombies Mode, except with aliens. According to the trailer released on October 28, 2013, a radio audio says that the players' objectives are to destroy the hives, arm the nuke, and get on a helicopter for extraction. It plays similar to Survival mode, with various weapons and upgrades. There are 30 levels, with different defenses unlocked as the player progresses.||Zombies: Zombies Mode returns in Call of Duty: Black Ops II. The mode now supports up to eight-player co-operative in Grief and runs on the game's multiplayer engine, rather than a modified singleplayer engine as in Call of Duty: World at War and Call of Duty: Black Ops. It also supports four-player co-operative split screen.|
