In just a few months, we have seen the announcements and rumors of four new consoles. The 3rd Xbox has been rumored, but so far, nothing is known about it. The PlayStation 4 has been rumored also, but it has one rumored feature: Instead of a controller, it will have a system not unlike Microsoft's Kinect. 3 new consoles have been announced, and one has already released. These consoles are the Nintendo 3DS, the Nintendo Wii U, and the PlayStation Vita. Here is what I think Call of Duty will look like on these confirmed conoles:
A Call of Duty title for the PlayStation Portable has not been released since the awful Call of Duty: Roads to Victory title in 2007. Since then, Activision has switched to the Nintendo DS series for the Portable Call of Duty titles. But what if Activision gave Sony another chance? At E3 2011, Sony announced the PlayStation Vita, the successor to the PlayStation Portable, and one version of the Vita is said to include 3G capabilities. That could make for one hell of a multiplayer experience, with connectibility like never before.
Since Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, Activision has put N-Space at the helm of the Portable Call of Duty series on the DS. But Nintendo has already announced and released its successor, the 3DS. If you have played a Call of Duty on the DS, you know just how crappy the graphics are on these games. The 3DS, however, boasts superior graphics, Glasses-less 3D effects, and a StreetPass mode.Although I believe the 3D effects would be more of a gimmick than a helpful feature, The Superior Graphics could help, and the StreetPass mode could be pretty cool, so you can get other people's friend codes, and hold private matches comparable to the Console Call of Duty games.
The Call of Duty series has been on the Wii since Call of Duty 3 back in 2006. Unfortunately, The Call of Duty games on the Wii have been downgraded ports of the other console's versions. The Wii U, Nintendo's announced successor of the Wii, is said to have the same graphics as its Sony and Microsoft cousins. The innovative part of this console, however, is its controller. The controller, although bulkier than the DualShock and 360 controller, features a 6" touchscreen with the ability to stream the game to the controller. What could this mean for Call of Duty on this console? Better graphics, and no HUD on the main screen, since that could be done on the controller's screen.
What do you think of these visions? Do you have visions of your own that you wish to share? Do you anything you would like to add? Leave a comment below.
Just so you all know, I will imediately disable commenting if fanboy wars become out of control on the article. Thank you!03:59, July 12, 2011 (UTC)
