As most of us know, around this time last year, there was a very nasty split between Infinity Ward and Activision; including studio heads, Jason West, Vince Zampella, as well as nearly half of the staff of IW. Since the terminations and resignations, a very heated legal battle has encompassed both parties. The termination of West & Zampella was due to what Activision calls, "breaches of contract and insubordination". Where as West and Zampella say it was Activision avoiding responsibility of the sum of up to, 500 million in royalties owed to them and IW. West & Zampella state, that the intellectual property of the Modern Warfare franchise belongs to them, and if the outcome of the lawsuit is in their favor, could halt development of MW3. The court date is set for later today, in what is sure to be a very long, very ugly legal battle.
