The Vector is a submachine gun featured in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, Call of Duty: Black Ops II, Call of Duty: Strike Team, Call of Duty: Ghosts, Call of Duty Online, Call of Duty: Heroes, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, Call of Duty: Mobile, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III. It was also seen in early trailers of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, but was cut from the final product.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2[]

Campaign[]

The Vector, referred to as KRISS Super V within game files, is often found in use by enemies, most notably by the forces of the Ultranationalists, more specifically, the Spetsnaz, the Arctic Forces, and Shadow Company. It can be seen with multiple attachments and camouflages throughout the campaign. In "Just Like Old Times", it is Soap's secondary with ACOG Scope and Silencer.

Multiplayer[]

The Vector is unlocked at level 12.

The Vector has the lowest damage per bullet of any weapon in Multiplayer. At any range short of 19 meters, the Vector will deal 25 damage per bullet, needing four shots to kill. Damage decreases linearly until 25 meters. At any range past 25 meters, the Vector will deal twenty damage per bullet, needing five hits to kill. The Vector is a four hit kill to the body out to 20 meters. The Vector is incapable of getting a one hit kill in Hardcore game types without a headshot. Headshots will reduce the number of hits needed to kill by one in most circumstances. The Vector also has low penetration power, meaning that the Vector loses a great portion of its already small damage when shooting through all but the lightest of obstacles.

The Vector's damage profile improves when using Stopping Power. At any range short of 19 meters, the Vector will deal 35 damage per bullet, needing three hits to kill. Damage decreases linearly until 25 meters. At any range past 25 meters, the Vector will deal 28 damage per bullet, needing four shots to kill. The Vector's three hit kill range ends at roughly 21 meters, and the Vector's one shot kill in Hardcore ends at roughly 24 meters. Headshots will only reduce the number of shots needed to kill at ranges where the Vector is not getting a three hit kill. The Vector's damage profile improves immensely in Core game types, and in Hardcore as well, as the Vector needs Stopping Power to get any one hit kills to the body. In either game types, Stopping Power will be hard to pass on.

The Vector's rate of fire is the highest of all SMGs, firing at 1111 RPM. The Vector is tied with the G18 for the highest fully automatic fire rate in Multiplayer. The Vector's damage per bullet is easily offset by the extreme rate of fire.

The Vector's accuracy is among the best in the SMG category. The iron sights are clean, and the recoil profile is small. The Vector has the lowest vertical recoil among all SMGs, and the second lowest horizontal recoil values. Only the Mini-Uzi can rival the Vector in the accuracy stakes. Even with the Vector's extremely high rate of fire, the Vector remains accurate. The centerspeed on the Vector is also high, at 1700. This prevents the recoil from accumulating too much. The sheer rate of fire of the Vector will cause some recoil to accumulate, but the combination of low recoil per shot and a high centerspeed makes the Vector easy to rest onto target.

The Vector has good handling characteristics for an SMG. The Vector allows users to move at 100% of the base movement speed, and strafe at 80% of the base speed. The hip-fire crosshairs are small, and the aim down sight time is fast at 200 milliseconds. The Vector's reload speeds are the best in-class. The Vector's reload animation is 2.2 seconds long, or 2.76 seconds if the magazine is empty. In either case, the Vector's Reload Cancel is 1.4 seconds. This reload cancel time is the fastest among all SMGs. In conjunction with the fast aim down sight time, the Vector is the SMG that is the least reliant on Sleight of Hand.

The Vector's magazine capacity is tied for the lowest in the SMG class, at thirty rounds per magazine. The starting ammo loadout is ninety rounds total.

The Vector has the standard assortment of attachments available. The Red Dot Sight and Holographic Sight both give the Vector an electronic replacement to the iron sights. The Vector's iron sights are clear. These attachments are not necessary.

Rapid Fire increases the rate of fire of the Vector to a monstrous 1395 RPM. This fire rate is enormous, but comes at a grave cost: the Vector's centerspeed is reduced to 1300. This centerspeed decrease is large, and with the Vector's huge rate of fire, the Vector's recoil will accumulate extremely quickly. The Vector becomes very unreliable at medium range, where it is supposed to have a distinct accuracy advantage over the other SMGs. Rapid Fire is an attachment best left to other SMGs.

Akimbo grants a second Vector to hip-fire, at the cost of the ability to aim and a significantly larger hip-fire spread. The hip-fire spread is so large that Steady Aim is mandatory to have any sliver of consistency landing shots. The Vector's combined rate of fire jumps to a mind-numbing 2222 RPM. The Akimbo Vectors are completely outclassed by the Akimbo G18, which is significantly more accurate from the hip and has the same combined rate of fire as the Akimbo Vectors. The only way to give the Akimbo Vectors a niche over the Akimbo G18 is to use Bling and combine Rapid Fire with Akimbo. Said combination elevates the Akimbo Vector to a combined rate of fire of 2790 RPM. Again, the Vector's advantage comes at medium range, and Akimbo is best left for an SMG that is more lethal up close.

The Silencer removes muzzle flash, makes the Vector much quieter when shooting, and prevents the Vector from making the user appear on radar when firing, at the cost of range. The Vector is a great weapon to use silenced, as it has great accuracy, a large rate of fire, and low damage differential, all of which softens the range penalty.

The ACOG Scope provides a long range optical sight, but makes the Vector's aim down sight time 50% longer, and lowers the centerspeed to 1300. It's best to avoid the ACOG Scope on the Vector at all times.

The Thermal Scope also provides a long range sight, but it's a scope with thermal imaging that illuminates enemies white hot. The Thermal Scope also makes the aim down sight time 50% longer, and it significantly increases the Vector's idle sway, compromising the Vector's accuracy. The Thermal Scope, much like the ACOG Scope, shouldn't be used.

FMJ increases the Vector's penetration power. The Vector doesn't lend itself well to shooting through walls, but FMJ is without penalty, and is a harmless attachment choice.

Extended Mags increases the Vector's magazine capacity to 45 rounds, and distributes the starting ammo loadout through two magazines instead of three. Both of these effects make reloads much less frequent. Extended Mags is an attachment without penalty, and it helps the magazine last longer as the enormous rate of fire chews through ammo rapidly. If the user doesn't like the Silencer, Extended Mags is the go-to attachment option.

The subject matter of this article was cut from the final version of a Call of Duty game. Since some information cannot be independently verified, the content on this page may be subject to change.

The Vector was seen in some early trailers of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3. Also, the Vector's textures as well as menu icon can be found in the game files.

At the start of the DLC mission "Special Delivery", several construction workers can be seen evading to the right, shooting with the Vector. Once killed, the Vector will not be dropped, but instead disappear.

Call of Duty: Black Ops II[]

"Fully automatic submachine gun. Incorporates recoil mitigation technology."
— Description.

The Vector returns in Call of Duty: Black Ops II as the Vector K10. It is very similar to the Vector from Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 as it shares the same animations and uses a similar model, the only notable differences are the Vector K10 now holds 36 rounds rather than its original 30 and the foregrip is now missing without the specific attachment, whereas in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, it was attached by default.

Campaign[]

The Vector K10 is heavily used by Mercs during the Campaign and is unlocked after completing Odysseus.

Multiplayer[]

The Vector K10 is unlocked at Level 16, making it the third submachine gun to be unlocked.

The Vector K10 is a low damage submachine gun with below average range. At any range short of 13.75 meters, the Vector K10 will deal 33 damage per bullet, needing four shots to kill. Between 13.75 meters and 22.5 meters, the Vector K10 will deal 22 damage per bullet, needing five shots to kill. Any shots fired past 22.5 meters will deal eighteen damage per bullet, needing six shots to kill. The Vector K10 deals ten percent extra damage on a Headshot, reducing the number of shots needed to kill by one up close. Beyond 13.75 meters, headshots will have no beneficial effect. The Vector K10 combines poor bullet damage with one of the shorter ranges in the SMG category, only consistently besting the Skorpion EVO in this regard. The Vector K10 has low penetration power, making it ineffective at shooting through walls.

The Vector K10's rate of fire is good, at 937 RPM. This fire rate makes up somewhat for the poor damage and makes the Vector K10 a consistent but middling presence in close-quarters combat.

The Vector K10's biggest strength as an SMG is its accuracy. The iron sights are small, but clear and easy to use. The Vector K10's recoil per shot is among the softest in the SMG category. The Vector K10 has recoil values of 45 to the left, 45 to the right, 57.5 upwards, and 52.5 downwards. The Vector K10 has some of the softest horizontal recoil in its class, and the Vector K10's downwards recoil value is unusually strong, causing the weapon to somewhat naturally counteract its upwards recoil in some cases. The Vector K10 also has the best centerspeed in its class, at 1675. The Vector K10 is among the most accurate SMGs on offer, and is the most accurate SMG that provides a decent fire rate. Like other SMGs, there is a slight amount of shot spread when aiming down the sight, but this shot spread is only 15% the size of a pellet-firing shotgun when aiming down the sight, so the shot spread will rarely matter.

The Vector K10's handling traits are excellent. The Vector K10 allows users to move at 100% of the base movement speed, and strafe at 80% of the base movement speed. The Vector K10 allows users to aim down the sight in 200 milliseconds, and the Vector K10's hip-fire accuracy is good. The Vector K10 also boasts the best reload speeds in its class. The Vector K10's reload animation is two seconds long, or 2.61 seconds long on an empty magazine. In either case, the user can Reload Cancel after 1.3 seconds. This is tied with the MP7 for the best reload speed among SMGs, and it makes reloading much safer to do.

The Vector K10 has a decent magazine capacity of 36 rounds. The Vector K10 also has a decent starting ammo loadout of 144 rounds.

The Vector K10 has the standard assortment of attachments available on offer. The optical attachments are available, but the Vector K10's great iron sights make the need for an optical attachment very minimal.

The Laser Sight tightens the Vector K10's hip-fire spread by 27.5%, making hip-fire extremely precise to the point where hip-fire performance is reliable at close-medium range. The attachment's utility boils down to the user's playstyle.

The Suppressor reduces muzzle flash, makes the Vector K10 quieter when firing, and prevents the Vector K10 from revealing the user on radar when firing, but the Vector K10's four and five shot kill ranges are made 30% shorter. Already starved for range, the Vector K10 isn't as reliant on its damage as other SMGs, so the Suppressor is not the worst fit on the weapon, but some may find the reduction of range on a weapon already lacking in range to be an unwise choice.

Fast Mag speeds up the reloads even further and makes reloads even more painless to perform. Extended Clip increases the magazine capacity to 48 rounds and increases the starting ammo loadout to 192 rounds, but it makes the reloads 10% longer. Extended Clip is the far more lucrative option on the Vector K10 as its reload speeds are already excellent, and its reload speed advantage is mostly gone compared to other SMGs using Fast Mag.

The Foregrip increases the Vector K10's centerspeed from 1675 to 1700. This difference in centerspeed is negligible and makes the Foregrip a waste of space.

The Quickdraw Handle speeds up the aim down sight time to 100 milliseconds, allowing the user to snap onto target in a flash. The attachment has no penalty and a very relevant upside, but its utility, much like with the Laser Sight, will boil down to the user's playstyle.

FMJ increases the Vector K10's penetration power, and damage dealt to scorestreaks. Penetration power is one of the Vector K10's more notable weaknesses, but even with FMJ, the Vector K10's lacking damage makes the weapon still not a great choice for firing through cover. Although FMJ is without penalty, its advantages are not very relevant to most SMG users.

Long Barrel increases the Vector K10's four shot kill and five shot kill ranges by 16%. The attachment has no downside and it ameliorates one of the Vector K10's biggest weaknesses relative to other SMGs, but the Vector K10's lacking range means that the effect of the Long Barrel is not that notable.

The Adjustable Stock allows users to strafe at 100% of the base movement speed. The attachment allows users to strafe at an unparalleled speed, but for many, the 80% strafe speed of the stock Vector will be sufficient.

Select Fire is easily the most interesting attachment on the Vector K10, and it does not behave like any other SMG with Select Fire enabled. Instead of allowing the Vector K10 to fire in three round bursts, the Vector K10 instead is set to two round bursts, like with the AN-94 when it is using Select Fire. The bullets within the burst fire at 1250 RPM, and there is no burst delay, allowing the user to fire as fast as 1250 RPM should they be good enough with their trigger finger. The centerspeed of the Vector K10 is also increased to a far stronger 1850, making the weapon much more accurate. The attachment on paper has no downside and some very lucrative upsides, but some will find it difficult and laborious to maintain the maximum RPM. It also behaves too similarly to the Chicom CQB in this regard, another SMG that has no burst delay and can fire at up to 1250 RPM. Compared to the Chicom CQB, the Vector K10 with Select Fire essentially is using another Pick Ten Point and forcing the user to be more active with their trigger finger than the Chicom CQB in exchange for a 250 extra centerspeed on a weapon that was already fairly accurate.

Rapid Fire increases the Vector K10's rate of fire to 1428 RPM, but it brings about some nasty downsides. It reduces the Vector K10's four and five shot kill ranges by 60%, making six shot kills far more common. The hip-fire spread is made 30% larger, and the Vector K10's centerspeed is reduced from 1675 to 1340. The combination of a dangerous centerspeed decrease and highly enhanced fire rate makes the Vector K10 monumentally less accurate, and even hip-fire is made less consistent. The attachment comes with too many downsides to be considered a good choice.

Overall, the Vector K10 is an easy to use SMG that doesn't provide much in the way of upside. Its killing power among SMGs is wildly mediocre. Its great accuracy makes the Vector K10 a far easier SMG to use than some of its stronger contemporaries, but ease of use comes at the grave cost of potential, giving the Vector K10 poor range benchmarks relative to its fire rate. The Vector K10 is a good choice for users that find SMGs like the MP7, PDW-57, and MSMC to be too inaccurate for their taste, as said weapons do have legitimate accuracy woes. However, the Vector K10 is worthless in the eyes of those that can adequately control said SMGs, and its upside is further called into question by the Chicom CQB, which is similar to the Vector K10 in most facets but provides a far faster RPM.

The Vector K10 is very similar to the MP7, another SMG that fires fully automatically at 937 RPM. Compared to the MP7, the Vector K10 is more accurate, providing a more balanced and moderate recoil profile in addition to a slight centerspeed bonus. The Vector K10 also gains fire rate and centerspeed in Select Fire mode, whereas the MP7 actually fires slower in Select Fire mode while gaining no centerspeed bonus. The MP7 provides superior range, magazine capacity, and starting ammo loadout, while also matching the Vector K10 in nearly every other stat. The MP7 provides five extra meters of four shot kill range at medium range, where both SMGs tend to get used very often, and provides nearly four extra meters of five shot kill range that helps make medium range combat more tolerable. The MP7 also does not require an unlock token to be accessed. If the user likes either of these two SMGs, it'd be best to try both of them and see which one suits the user's playstyle more.

Call of Duty: Strike Team[]

The Vector K10 returns as an unlockable weapon in Call of Duty: Strike Team.

Call of Duty: Ghosts[]

"Fully automatic. .45 ACP rounds provide highest damage in its class with increased wall penetration."
— Description.

The Vector reappears in Ghosts under the name Vector CRB, although in game files it is referred to simply as KRISS V. It has a black finish rather than the tan finish seen in the previous games. It also fires a lot slower than it did before, but now has higher penetration, damage, and range to compensate. It also has different iron sights. The player starts out with a Vector CRB in "Federation Day" and "Severed Ties".

Multiplayer[]

The Vector CRB costs seven squad points, although there is a preset CQB character in Create-A-Soldier that gives the Vector CRB for free.

The Vector CRB is a long-range, high-damage SMG. At any range short of 17.5 meters, the Vector CRB will deal 45 damage per bullet, needing three shots to kill. Damage drops off linearly until 31.4 meters. At any range past 31.4 meters, the Vector CRB will deal twenty damage per bullet, needing five shots to kill. The Vector CRB has a three shot kill range of 23.6 meters, and a four shot kill range of 28.6 meters. The Vector CRB also has the longest one-shot kill range of all SMG's in Hardcore game types, with a one shot kill range of roughly 28 meters. The Vector CRB has a small headshot bonus, as headshots with the Vector CRB only deal 15% extra damage, whereas all other SMGs have a headshot bonus of at least 30%. Still, the Vector CRB may need one less shot to kill in some scenarios with a headshot, but the headshot bonus is worthless at long range. The Vector CRB boasts medium penetration power, allowing the Vector CRB to shoot through walls more effectively.

The Vector CRB easily has the longest three shot kill range in its class, to the point where a silenced Vector CRB would still have a longer three shot kill range than all other vanilla SMGs. It is the Vector CRB's biggest strength as an SMG, to the point where it can even best or match some of the shorter-ranged assault rifles.

The Vector CRB's biggest weakness as an SMG is its rate of fire. It has one of the slowest rates of fire of all SMGs, firing at just 759 RPM. Only the AR mode on the Ripper fires slower. Despite it not holding up compared to other SMGs in terms of fire rate, 759 RPM is still a decent rate of fire that bests a number of other fully automatic weapons.

The Vector CRB's accuracy is acceptable. The Vector CRB's iron sights are a point of contention among players. Some find them simple and usable, others may find that the back sight is too thick and obstructive for their liking. The Vector CRB has relatively heavy recoil per shot for an SMG, with recoil values of 55 to the left, 55 to the right, 65 upwards, and 35 downwards. The Vector CRB in net will kick up, but will also have notable horizontal recoil. The Vector CRB has an average centerspeed of 1400. Although rather low overall, a 1400 centerspeed is enough when considering the Vector CRB's slower rate of fire. The Vector CRB has some of the heaviest horizontal recoil in its class and the largest vertical recoil value, but the slower rate of fire will counteract this somewhat. The Vector CRB also has notable gunkick, with the gun model visibly shaking up and down while firing.

The Vector CRB has exceptional handling characteristics. The user will be able to move at 100% of the base movement speed, and strafe at 80% of the base movement speed. The Vector CRB aims down the sight in 200 milliseconds, and has good hip-fire accuracy. The reload speeds of the Vector CRB are the best in its class, with the reload animation being 2.53 seconds long, or 3.2 seconds long if the magazine was empty. Either way, the user can Reload Cancel after 1.4 seconds. The reload cancel speed is among the best in the game, even competing with the game's Handguns in that respect.

One of the Vector CRB's weaknesses is its magazine capacity. It is tied for the smallest magazine capacity in its class, holding 32 rounds. While not bad by any means, it is still a weakness when comparing to other SMGs. As a result, the Vector CRB is also tied for the smallest starting ammo loadout in its class, holding just 96 rounds total. The Vector CRB's damage and low fire rate makes it so that it doesn't necessarily burn ammo very quickly, and thanks to the quick reloads, users won't be spending too much time reloading despite the shorter magazine.

The Vector CRB has the standard assortment of SMG attachments on offer. All optical attachments are available, and they prove to be relatively popular on the Vector CRB, as some players may want a cleaner sight picture should the iron sights not be to their liking.

Some of the barrel attachments allow the user to take full advantage of the Vector CRB's long range. The Muzzle Brake enhances the Vector CRB's three shot kill and four shot kill ranges by 20%, making its main selling card of a long three shot kill range all the sweeter. The Silencer will reduce the Vector CRB's range in exchange for stealth benefits, although the Vector CRB with a Silencer will still retain a longer three shot kill range by default compared to all vanilla SMGs, even besting the K7 in this regard. The Flash Suppressor provides less muzzle flash while not reducing range.

The Grip will reduce the recoil values by ten percent. It's an attachment that'll make the Vector CRB notably more accurate since it has some of the largest recoil values in its class, but seeing how the Vector CRB is an SMG, the value of the attachment is questionable given the Vector CRB's natural close-quarters tendencies. Still, it never hurts to use the Grip.

Extended Mags increases the magazine capacity to 48 rounds and increases the starting ammo loadout to 144 rounds, giving much more ammo to work with and more sustained combat capability. Armor-Piercing Rounds allows the Vector CRB to shoot players making use of Ballistic Vests or Juggernaut Armor undeterred, making the Vector CRB deadly effective against Juggernauts. Rapid Fire increases the Vector CRB's rate of fire to 895 RPM, making the Vector CRB much more competitive in close quarters.

The Vector was buffed on the April 3rd patch, along with most other SMGs, to make it a more competitive weapon. It received a 25% increase in its minimum damage range, meaning that its damage will not drop off as quickly as it did pre-patch. This makes it a more viable weapon at medium to longer ranges.

Extinction[]

The Vector CRB also appears in Extinction, in Point of Contact and Nightfall for $1500. In Point of Contact, it is on the side of the road in the motel area. In Nightfall, it is at the top of the stairs near the communications tower and leaning against a shipping container in the compound area. It has an acceptable magazine capacity, but not a very high one, being at 30.

The Vector CRB, like other SMGs, excels in the handling stakes, with fast mobility, aim speed, reload speed, switch speeds, and a tight hip-fire spread. This makes it an attractive choice for anyone who isn't a Weapon Specialist, as its handling stats are superb to begin with, compared to assault rifles, LMGs, and Marksman Rifles. The Vector CRB, on the flipside, isn't an attractive option for a Weapon Specialist, who is capable of getting similar handling characteristics out of much stronger weapons. The Vector CRB is also a less attractive option for teams that have a healthy supply of Team Boosters, which specifically remedy the poor handling characteristics of other classes.

The Vector returns in Call of Duty: Mobile as the Fennec. It was added as part of the Season 11 Anniversary update.

Multiplayer[]

The Fennec features the second highest rate of fire of all guns (only being surpassed by Mac10) at the cost of a huge recoil penalty. Combined with the top-in-class hip fire accuracy, good mobility and a decent amount of damage drop at range, this is an extremely powerful submachine gun at close range, but players may struggle to kill enemies even at mid range due to the large magnitude of vertical/ horizontal recoil. The weapon can also be wielded akimbo.

Battle Royale[]

The gun is featured in Battle Royale. It has high rate of fire, heavy recoil and very tight hipfire spread. It is available as ground loot without attachments like all other weapons, and can be looted as a Custom Weapon.

Trivia[]

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2[]

  • The words "Infinity Ward, Encino CA" are etched into the back of the weapon.
  • The orange color in Fall Camouflage for the Vector is slightly darker because the light grey in the texture files is slightly darker.
  • The player's hand model goes through the Vector's magazine housing. While this error cannot be seen normally, it can clearly be seen while reloading and spinning to the left with a high sensitivity.
  • In the Act III mission "Just Like Old Times", the player starts the mission with a Vector sporting a unique black finish instead of the default tan.

Call of Duty: Black Ops II[]

  • On the side of the gun, it is possible to see ".45 ACP" written.
  • On the back side of the magazine, there is an engraving exactly the same as the back of the MPL; the two M's on two sides of a cube. Also, there is writing that says ".45" on the top of the magazine.
  • The name "BUSTER ARMS" can be seen written near the muzzle on the left side of the gun.

Call of Duty: Ghosts[]

  • It has an unusable flashlight above the barrel.
  • Right behind the flashlight, it says: "SMG .45 ACP."
  • It now features an angled grip in front of the magazine well.
  • The rear sight is not folded down if optical attachments are used.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II[]

  • The "Karamic Prime" blueprint is a reference to the Karma-45.
