A Warlord firing a BRM one-handed
|Appears in||Call of Duty: Black Ops III|
The Warlord is a heavily armored enemy that appears in Call of Duty: Black Ops III in campaign and Combat Immersion. Its gameplay role and behavior is similar to that of the Juggernaut from Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3.
Warlords are high-ranking 54 Immortals troopers equipped with a top-of-the-line CDP heavy exoskeleton, providing them with full body protection with a helmet, outfit, and leggings. Their heavy duty exo-suits are heavily resistant to damage and make them strong enough to fire a light machine gun one-handed. They are very durable, able to withstand over two full standard magazines from most assault rifles, or several shotgun blasts or sniper rifle rounds, before falling. Their armor is also resistant to explosive damage; additionally, they are equipped with a repulsor defense system that deflects incoming grenades and explosives away from them.
Warlords are always equipped with a BRM. They patrol the battlefield at a leisurely pace while suppressing their enemies with constant machine gun fire. They also possess enhanced jumping ability and can leap onto higher platforms for a tactical advantage. They are resistant to many Cyber Core abilities, and will usually only be temporarily stunned by higher level powers, rather than killed outright like lower level enemies would be. Warlords appear to be vetted for their physical features being much larger than their comrades but also making them easier targets to hit, even under their heavy supressing fire.
While investigating an interrupted CIA black site in Singapore, the Player and Hendricks encountered several 54i Warlords. Several more were encountered in an operation in the Marina Bay Gardens, as well as at a long-abandoned Coalescence facility.
Warlords are extremely rare in Nightmares but can be found frequently as zombies, usually correspondant their locations in the Campaign. In early levels, zombified warlords have no signifigant difference other than appearance over other zombies. In later levels however, they can appear as specialized Napalm and Electrified Zombies outfitted in what appears to be Kinetic Armor, although this has no effect on their health.
Warlords appear during Combat Immersion training.
- The second Warlord who is encountered during the cutscene for "In Darkness" carries both a BRM and a riot shield, but other Warlords only carry a BRM.
- Warlords are marked with their own unique icon in the tactical HUD.
