Weapon Proficiencies are a type of weapon customization featured in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3. Proficiencies are unlocked as the weapon is leveled up. Only one Proficiency can be put on a single weapon and is only allowed to be put on primary weapons (including the second primary with Overkill Pro). However, when the player unlocks the Specialist Bonus with the Specialist Strike Package, they are able to use all but three of the Weapon Proficiencies (Damage, Breath, and Attachments) on any gun. If any Proficiency besides the ones previously mentioned are currently on a weapon the player is using, it will not be stacked with the Specialist Bonus.
Picking up any dropped weapon will not give the player the weapon proficiency that the owner of that weapon had. The gun will act as if it has no proficiency, with the exception of Attachment. The gun's attachments (including the second attachment installed via the Attachment proficiency) and camouflage remain intact.
