Private West was the Javelin missile operator of Lieutenant Vasquez's unit. During the push to relieve the M1 Tank War Pig, Private West was ordered to target several tanks on an overpass. While acquiring a target lock, the Private was shot dead by an OpFor soldier.
West is noteworthy in that he is the only non-player character seen carrying the Javelin missile system. If the player eliminates the majority of the OpFor soldiers on the bridge before the order for West to advance is given, he will move up, kneel down, and sit still for several seconds before being killed by gunfire. Even if the player is miraculously able to finish off all the enemy forces on the overpass, Pvt. West will still be killed by a scripted grenade event after a short amount of time.

- He is named and voiced by Call of Duty 4's project lead, Jason West
- If you look closely at his face after he dies, you will see that he is moving his mouth as if he were talking.
- Randomly-generated marines may also have the name "Pvt. West"
- If you stand in front of Pvt. West, no bullets will arrive, but a grenade will eventually kill Pvt. West, and if you are close enough, yourself.
- In reality, Javelins are operated by two-man teams like Stingers.
